About Us

Scott Harford

Scott A. Harford is an accomplished personal injury and toxic exposure plaintiffs’ attorney licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey. He has represented hundreds of individual clients located across the country harmed in motor vehicle accidents, toxic chemical exposure and outbreaks, and accidents due to unsafe property conditions.

Harford, P.C., was started in December 2014 as a law firm dedicated to helping individuals injured through toxic exposure (including Legionnaires’ disease, asbestos, Roundup® weed killer, and Trichloroethylene), food poisoning and foodborne illnesses (E. coli, salmonella, listeria, and Cyclospora), hazardous and unsafe property conditions, and auto collisions. The firm’s founding attorney, Scott A. Harford, is an accomplished personal injury plaintiffs’ attorney licensed to practice in New York and New Jersey, and he has represented hundreds of individual clients located across the country. He, along with his staff at Harford, P.C., are committed to the needs of innocent people injured due to the negligence or recklessness of others.

Scott began his career in 2000 and initially worked as defense attorney representing hedge funds, insurance companies, and Fortune 500 companies. His experience included defending large-scale companies within a wide array of litigations, including securities, environmental contamination, asbestos, and general personal injury and automobile accident claims.

But in 2006, Scott concluded that his practice would best serve individuals injured by toxic substances, careless drivers, and negligent property owners. He has since concentrated on representing people with catastrophic injuries resulting from devastating illnesses such as Legionnaires’ disease, food poisoning, and asbestos-related cancer, as well as severe motor vehicle crashes.

In his toxic exposure practice, Scott served as a legal representative for the people who were exposed to Legionella at the Sugar Hill Project in Washington Heights; a residential building in the Financial District of Manhattan; the Opera House Hotel in the Bronx; and various other commercial and residential facilities in New York and New Jersey.

Beyond representing his clients, Scott’s work has also been instrumental in the voluntary recall of certain drugs and consumer goods deemed to be unreasonably dangerous to the public. He has worked in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission in achieving these results.

Scott was recognized as a New York Super Lawyers “Rising Star” under 40 in 2012 and 2013. In every year since then, he has been recognized as a New York Super Lawyer in the field of Plaintiff Personal Injury. Scott’s work on behalf of individual clients was also recognized with his membership into the exclusive, prestigious “Million Dollar Advocates Forum” — a designation that only 1 percent of attorneys in the U.S. have obtained.

Prior to the practice of law, Scott grew up in Morris County, New where he attended Mountain Lakes High School. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree cum laude from Boston College in graduated law school in 2000 from Duquesne University of Law, where he was an editor for the Duquesne Law Review and a member of the Public Interest Law Association.

Prior to starting Harford, P.C., in December 2014, Scott was an invaluable asset and at the New York City law firms of Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP (2000-2003), Flemming Zulack Williamson Zauderer LLP (2003-2006), and Lynch Daskal Emery LLP (2006-2014). The opportunity to start his own practice was made possible by the incredible degree of professional development he obtained at those firms.

Scott is currently admitted to New York and New Jersey state courts, the U.S. District Court for New Jersey, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York. He is also a member of the following legal associations:
