Harford, P.C. filed a lawsuit today against the Peregrine Senior Living facility located in Albany, New York. It is the first New York City law firm to file an action against Peregrine related to the recent Legionnaires’ disease outbreak last month affecting residents of the facility.
As of September 17, 2024, twenty people have been hospitalized due to the outbreak and four people have died. In response to the outbreak, health officials in Albany have been working with Peregrine and area hospitals to ensure people affected are properly treated and that appropriate water treatment programs and restrictions are implemented.
As reported by the New York Daily News, according to Kristyn Ganim, Peregrine’s executive director, “we have installed advanced water filters in as many locations as possible, including in designated bathing and showering locations.”
Harford, P.C. continues to be in the forefront in representing individuals harmed by exposure to Legionella bacteria. The law firm has represented people catastrophically injured from the outbreaks at the Opera House Hotel in the Bronx, the Sugar Hill Project in Manhattan, Harlem Hospital, and public housing facilities in New York.
